FAQs

Here’s some of our most frequently asked questions. For more specific enquiries, please just give us a shout, we want to hear from you!

What kind of music do Borrowed Blues play?

+

Borrowed Blues play soul, blues, rock 'n' roll, pop and country, with a set list running from the 1940s right through to today's charts. Think Etta James and Sam Cooke alongside Paolo Nutini, Taylor Swift and Luke Combs, all with a big, warm live sound.

Who is in the band?

+

Borrowed Blues are a five-piece with male and female vocals, drums, bass, guitar and saxophone. The band members are close friends as well as serious musicians, and you can hear that chemistry when they play.

Can we add more horns or a keyboard player?

+

Yes. You can extend the horn section with trombone and/or trumpet, or add a keys player for an even fuller sound. Both are add-ons, so just mention them when you enquire and we'll include them in your quote.

Do Borrowed Blues play a ceilidh set?

+

Yes. A short but lively ceilidh set is included, with backing tracks filling in the traditional parts and every dance called, so guests of any experience can join in. Couples with lots of non-Scottish guests often tell us it was a highlight of the night.

Will the band learn our first dance?

+

Yes. Borrowed Blues are happy to learn your first dance song especially for you. Let us know your choice as early as you can so they have plenty of time to get it perfect.

Can our guests request songs?

+

Yes. The band take requests on the night and will happily take your own playlist tastes into account beforehand. Send us any must-play songs and we'll pass them on.

What are the band's performance times?

+

Borrowed Blues usually play from 8pm to midnight with a 30-minute break. Early arrival and a late finish after midnight are available as add-ons, and other timings can be arranged on request.

What happens during the band's break?

+

The band provide a complimentary unmanned DJ service whenever they're not playing live, so the music keeps going through the break and before and after their sets.

What equipment do Borrowed Blues bring?

+

They bring their own PA system and stage lighting, hold public liability insurance and use PAT-tested equipment. If your venue has a sound limiter, let us know when you book so the band can plan for it.
